What a big mouth you have http://mikeandmichael.info/blog/2010/08/13/what-a-big-mouth-you-have/ http://mikeandmichael.info/blog/2010/08/13/what-a-big-mouth-you-have/#comments Fri, 13 Aug 2010 20:16:46 +0000 Mike and Michael http://mikeandmichael.info/blog/?p=1107 A few days ago, the boys and I made pasta with broccoli and chicken in a red sauce – actually, I made the dinner, they watched. While we were eating, I was twirling the spaghetti around the tines of my fork, and Christopher commented on the rather large size of the bite. Before I could finish my reply, “I know,” he followed with, “that’s okay, Daddy, you have a big mouth.”

I laughed hysterically…

Could it be possible that he knows what a double entendre is?

Enjoying our cooking time…

Goodbye to our friend, Sonya http://mikeandmichael.info/blog/2010/08/08/goodbye-to-our-friend-sonya/ http://mikeandmichael.info/blog/2010/08/08/goodbye-to-our-friend-sonya/#comments Mon, 09 Aug 2010 05:16:29 +0000 Mike and Michael http://mikeandmichael.info/blog/2010/08/08/goodbye-to-our-friend-sonya/ This week marks the end of more than a decade of California living. Our dear friend, Sonya, is moving back to North Carolina. On one hand, we are incredibly sad; though we will always be friends, this move presents a challenge for getting together. On the other hand, we are truly happy for Sonya; she is moving back to be closer to family and long-time friends – it helps that she has a handsome man waiting for her.

This evening our family of four met Sonya in San Francisco for dinner. We met at an Ethiopian restaurant in the Mission. We chatted, ate and reminisced.

We said our very tearful goodbyes outside the restaurant, but before Daddy and Sonya started crying like babies, Sonya told Christopher to keep his red hair. “It’s beautiful”, she said. With excitement he replied, “I have my Mommy’s hair.” I got a little choked up…it didn’t help that I was about to bid adieu to Sonya.

We wish you the best, Sonya!

More Buzz http://mikeandmichael.info/blog/2010/07/26/more-buzz/ http://mikeandmichael.info/blog/2010/07/26/more-buzz/#comments Mon, 26 Jul 2010 19:34:19 +0000 Mike and Michael http://mikeandmichael.info/blog/2010/07/26/more-buzz/ We have recruited two new followers.

On Saturday, we hosted a play date and BBQ for our friends, John and Troy and Darek and Alan. Each couple has 3-year-old boy-girl twins; okay, how random is that?

Anyway, several hours into the play date, we started Toy Story. I don’t believe Alan and Darek’s kids had been exposed to Toy Story prior to their visit, but I have heard that they made a recent purchase!

I didn’t think it would ever happen http://mikeandmichael.info/blog/2010/07/19/i-didnt-think-it-would-ever-happen/ http://mikeandmichael.info/blog/2010/07/19/i-didnt-think-it-would-ever-happen/#comments Mon, 19 Jul 2010 23:46:35 +0000 Mike and Michael http://mikeandmichael.info/blog/2010/07/19/i-didnt-think-it-would-ever-happen/ But it has…

The boys have discovered Pixar/Disney movies, in this case Toy Story and Toy Story 2. Matteo walks around the house saying, “Buzz, Buzz”. If he sees a picture of Buzz, he shrieks with delight and calls his name.

I just took this pic of the boys engrossed in the movie.

So much to report… http://mikeandmichael.info/blog/2010/07/13/so-much-to-report/ http://mikeandmichael.info/blog/2010/07/13/so-much-to-report/#comments Tue, 13 Jul 2010 22:03:30 +0000 Mike and Michael http://mikeandmichael.info/blog/?p=1030 I have taken an unexplained break from blogging. Once we completed our kitchen and family room renovation, and moved back in to the rooms, we had to prepare for Mike’s parents’ visit. One thing led to another, blah, blah, blah.

So here goes…

We finished our kitchen and family room renovation! The renovation took 11 weeks…If you are interested in viewing the project, click on the RENOVATION tab.

Mike’s parents came for a week-long visit. We had not seen them since the Christmas holiday. Lots to report…
We hosted a BBQ at our house with Mike’s parents and my Mom in attendance. We also invited Mommy Sara, who graciously accepted. How lucky are we…

We also went out for breakfast, played with the pinwheels at the pinwheel garden, and went to the park. For the 4th of July, we went to Grandma Kathi’s house for a BBQ.

I’m not lying http://mikeandmichael.info/blog/2010/07/13/im-not-lying/ http://mikeandmichael.info/blog/2010/07/13/im-not-lying/#comments Tue, 13 Jul 2010 21:57:52 +0000 Mike and Michael http://mikeandmichael.info/blog/?p=1044 During Mike’s parents’ visit, we had a tough time getting Christopher to bed. To be expected, he was very excited to see his Nana and Pop-pop. In fact, the day they departed for home, Christopher got very upset. I digress, however.

When Mike’s parents arrived, we gave them our room, which is on the main floor and adjacent to the boys’ rooms. Incidentally, with the exception of one bedroom, the laundry room and the garage, all other rooms of our house are on the main floor. Anyway, we took the downstairs bedroom.

Every bedtime was different. Looking back, it was entertaining. One night, we could hear Christopher whispering from under his door, “Nana, may I have some water, please?” Apparently, Nana supplied Christopher with water one night. Another night, he called out to his Dads, “Will you cut the tag of Jujubee, please?” Jujubee happens to be the name of his Pillow Pet. In true form, Christopher repeats his rant until he gets attention or tires. This night was a bit different, though. After about the third or fourth, “Will you cut the tag of Jujubee, please?”, he immediately follows in an angry voice, “Oh, my God, Jesus Christ.” And, without missing a beat, he begins repeating, “Will you cut the tag of Jujubee, please?”, in his normal voice. Mike’s parents, who are Catholic, began laughing hysterically.

One other night, Christopher tells Dad, “I have to go potty.” Going potty is part of his normal bedtime routine. Thinking Christopher was up to his usual games, Mike put him to bed. The following morning, Christopher awakens, gets dressed, and goes to the potty. When finished he looks at Mike, “See, Dad, I had to go potty. I wasn’t lying.” Where does he get this stuff? We have never used that phrase…

Happy Father’s Day! http://mikeandmichael.info/blog/2010/06/21/happy-fathers-day/ http://mikeandmichael.info/blog/2010/06/21/happy-fathers-day/#comments Tue, 22 Jun 2010 03:28:58 +0000 Mike and Michael http://mikeandmichael.info/blog/?p=1013 Mike and I enjoyed our Father’s Day with the boys. We started by going to our favorite breakfast restaurant in Oakland, followed by a walk along the Jack London Square’s farmer’s market. We picked up a few vegetables and fruits, some of which we planned to take to our friends Kai and Michael’s house for a Father’s Day dinner.

These pictures show some of the fun.
